CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Zane Trace FFA chapter held a rib-eye sandwich sale at the first home football game Sept. 5.
The students set up a camper, grill and serving table in the parking lot outside the football field and sold the sandwiches. The members also went into the stands during the game to sell sandwiches to fans.
The 250 rib-eyes were sold out before half-time and the total net profit from the sale was $680. The money raised will be used to help the chapter pay for their upcoming trip to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis this October.
The Zane Trace Agriculture Department added a new staff member, Jessica Peecher. A 2005 Southeastern High School graduate, she is completing her student teaching for the next 14 weeks. She is currently a senior at The Ohio State University.
Six members of the Zane Trace FFA Officer Team attended the Chapter Officer Leadership Training event Sept. 10, held at Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium in Columbus.
During the training, the officers met other FFA members from around the state, participated in team building and communication exercises and listened to guest speakers from a variety of backgrounds, including members of the 2008-2009 Ohio FFA Officer Team.
CASTALIA, Ohio — On Sept. 9, Margaretta FFA officers met to plan activities for the upcoming school year. Officers discussed chapter T-shirt ideas, along with officer polo shirts, and also discussed fundraising ideas.
The chapter will be traveling to the national convention on a coach bus, traveling with FFA chapters from Shelby and Colonel Crawford.
The first chapter meeting will be Sept. 29 during first period.
The chapter will be having a chili and brat dinner Oct. 17 from 4:30-7 p.m. before the football game against Edison. Members will be asked to help with the event.
On Sept. 10, chapter officers attended the Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) Conference in Columbus. Six of Margaretta’s officers attended: David Siesel, Courtney Balduff, Ashley Sartor, Kory Munk, Kalie Bodey and Renea Yetter.
The officers learned many ways to help improve the chapter.
ANDOVER, Ohio — The Pymatuning Valley FFA members cleaned the ditches of Route 6 on a recent Sunday morning.
There were three groups cleaning a 2-mile stretch from Pymatuning Valley High School to Creek Road. FFA members were assisted by chapter alumni who came out to help.
BELOIT, Ohio — West Branch FFA students have been working very hard this past summer to get ready for their county fairs.
Our FFA members took a wide variety of projects to both the Columbiana and Mahoning County fairs.
There were six people who took animals to the Mahoning County Fair through West Branch FFA.
Those members were Austen Shoemaker, Liz Wyss, Taylor Pidgeon, Billy Grammer, Ryan Altomare and Haley Skolosh.
These are only some of the West Branch FFA members who worked hard to accomplish their goals. They all achieved excellent awards because of their desire to do well and the time and money they have put into their projects.
West Branch FFA also had some members take projects to the Columbiana County Fair.
Those members include Julia Conny, Kristen Cross, Hannah Miller, Amanda Smith, Dustin Graham, Taylor Pidgeon, Jason Gullett, Brian Crist, Kevin Kitzmiller and Chelsea Shafer.
All of these outstanding FFA members have worked very hard this past year so they could be successful for their county fairs. Their hard work paid off because of their aspirations and dedication they all had for their animals.
