This one-row picker had a bucket elevator that dumped he corn into a mounted bin. When the bin was full, you pulled up to a wagon, pulled a lever and the side opened to unload. In addition to his own farm, Gebhart did custom work. When he bought a new combine in the early 1950s (a McCormick 127 S.P.), some customers complained they couldn’t handle grain that wasn’t in bags, so Gebhart took the bin from that older corn picker, mounted it on a homemade trailer, and made a bagger.
